During this time of the year for reflection and change, we will be led in a sound bath and vocal activation to open our minds and bodies for the new Jewish year by sound practitioner Serena Malkani.
We will co-create a unique water and sound experience first on land and then in the JCC’s indoor pool with sound bowls. Water is a symbol of transition and renewal in the Jewish tradition. While we’re in the water, we will consider what we hope to leave behind from the past year and what we hope to bring into the new year.**
We will start on land with a more traditional sound bath practice infused with preparations for the New Year. Then, move into the water as we set our intentions and cleanse oursleves for a fruitful year ahead.
We know this event starts early, but eating lightly before or after is the best practice while working with the voice. It helps keep your breath flowing freely and your sound clear without weighing you down! Light snacks will be served as a grounding into the program.
* *Please come in your bathing suit with comfortable clothes on top, and bring with you a towel, water bottle, journal/pen and change of clothes for after the event.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds, for cost-free registration, please email Lschiff@marinjcc.org.

Voice Meditation Session followed by Sound Bathing
Our voice is the link between our inner and outer worlds. When what we intuitively feel, internally think, and externally communicate are in alignment, we are rooted in an authentic space within ourselves. When we work with sound, we can tap into a deep sense of self, recognize and unleash unconscious creativity, relax the nervous system, alleviate anxiety, improve our sleep, alter the way our brain processes information and release endorphins.
