Midweek Musical Matinee:

Father-Son Duo “From Romanticism to Modernism”

Wednesday, October 9

1 :00-2:00pm

In-Person at the Osher Marin JCC, 200 N. San Pedro Road (San Rafael, CA)

Back by popular demand, this very special inter-generational concert featuring a father-son duo of artists — on violin & piano — is not to be missed!

The duo will begin by performing a Sonata by Franz Schubert, a composer who bridged the changes from the Classical to the Romantic period. They will then jump forward to several composers who led the divergent trends of the first half of the 20th century, including shifts of tonality and form, ethnicism and more.

In honor of the Jewish High Holidays, many of the pieces on the programs will have a Jewish angle.

  • Schubert: Second Violin Sonata in A-minor, D385
  • Schoenberg: 6 Kleine Klavierstuecke (“6 Little Pieces for Piano”), Opus 19
  • Ben Haim: Sephardic Melody
  • Ravel: Kaddish
  • Ravel: Tzigane
  • and more!
